Comparison of Teaching Learning Environment and Academic Achievement among Public and Private Sectors Secondary Schools

Abstract

The teaching-learning environment consists of teaching, learning, managerial settings, and all the elements which influence in either way, the process of teaching and learning. This study focused on matching up the teaching & learning environment and academic achievements of the Students of Public/Private Secondary Schools. All Students of Secondary Schools of District Mardan in KPK (Pakistan) were the population of this study. The sample of the study comprised sixty secondary schools.  To select a sample of the study probability sampling technique was used. For data collection questionnaire was used as an instrument for descriptive study. Forty statements were included in the questionnaire. Class 9th students’ academic results were obtained from BISE Mardan. Findings Based on Public/Private Secondary Schools on Teaching Learning Environment showed that Physical, Social, and Psychological improved comparative environment of public schools but there was no significant difference between the academic environment of both sectors. The score of academic achievement in private schools was better. It was concluded that the private sector schools had better teaching-learning environments and academic achievement scores as compared to public sector schools.
