Abstract

Many students face financial obstacles in pursuing education. A number of researchers explore the financial factors affecting student learning. The purpose of this research is to explore the impacts of financial obstacles in pursuing Higher Education by university students of Quetta. When faced with increased financial pressures, students may be compelled to decrease their course load or abandon their studies to seek paid employment. In the fall of 2023, a comprehensive survey involving 252 students was conducted at Quetta universities (UOB, SBK, BUITEMS, IQRA, and Al-Hamad) to investigate the attributes of students who either dropped out or reduced their credit hours due to financial constraints. Comparative analyses were undertaken to discern the characteristics of these students in contrast to those who remained enrolled and maintained their regular coursework. The findings establish a connection between financial obstacles and academic performance, highlighting the impact of financial burdens on students' ability to succeed in their studies.
